No arrests will be made in connection with the Big Brother racism row, police have said.

The Crown Prosecution Service has decided that what occurred was "clearly offensive" but "not criminal".

The row sparked a diplomatic incident following the treatment of the Channel 4 show's eventual winner Shilpa Shetty.

Police were swamped with hundreds of complaints from angry viewers after Shetty was bullied by Jade Goody, Danielle Lloyd and Jo O'Meara.

Officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary interviewed participant Danielle Lloyd, who lives in Chingford, after she requested a meeting.

The alleged abuse sparked more than 40,000 complaints from viewers to Ofcom, the broadcasting regulator.
