THERE were cheers all round at Creech St Michael Community Pre-school when the new outdoor facilities were opened.

Taunton Deane MP Rebecca Pow formally opened the activity centre which included a slide, climbing equipment,a shelter and improved surfacing and sensory equipment.

Ms Pow even managed to join in the fun herself.

Emma Tucker, chair of the Pre-school committee said: "We are tremendously proud of our pre-school and our staff’s passion, commitment and motivation.

"We think the facilities we have are amazing, although we are always seeking ways in which we might improve upon them.

"As such, one of our main focusses over recent years has been our outdoor play area. Although our outdoor space has had a small sun / rain shelter and a variety of smaller play equipment, we have spent eight years fundraising to improve this vital area.

"We are so excited, after such a massive and lengthy fundraising effort, and the never-ending support of our families and community, that we have finally been able to raise sufficient funds to commission the first phase of our improvement works.

"This phase has thankfully been undertaken over the last couple of weeks and has seen the installation of our new shelter and activity centre."
