PUPILS and staff returned to Oake Bradford and Nynehead Primary School on a high after the summer holidays following an impressive Ofsted report.

The inspector deemed the school ‘good’ overall, with the reception class graded ‘outstanding’ and staff praised for providing “a wealth of meaningful learning experiences which challenge and ignite the children’s love of learning”.

Delighted head teacher Nick Gilding said: “Everyone is extremely pleased that the inspector viewed the school so positively.

“We work incredibly hard to ensure that all pupils have access to a rich, engaging provision which encourages the development of the whole child and this was recognised.

“The report will be very useful in helping us to improve further, building on current strong practice that is demonstrated within the school.”

Teaching was judged consistently good or better, underpinned by positive relationships which promote good learning.

Pupils’ cultural development benefits from a wide range of opportunities available, which inspires their enthusiasm.

The summary of key findings concluded.

*The headteacher provides good leadership. His expectations are effectively communicated and shared by staff and governors, helping improve teaching and learning.

*Pupils’ achievement in Year 2 has risen steadily and is now above the national average. In the current Year 6, standards are set to be above average in reading, writing and mathematics.
