MOTORCYCLISTS from across Somerset are set to join together in a two-wheeled ‘salute’ to prostate cancer.

The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is encouraging bikers from the region to don their finest attire and ride from Taunton to Tiverton.

Around the world, more than 30,000 will be doing the same thing, taking part in the global event sponsored by Triumph motorcycles to support the fight against prostate cancer.

Rick Cawley, UK general manager at Triumph, said: “The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is a fantastic event that brings together like-minded people in a fun environment. It’s great to see a global event showcasing the pleasurable aspects of biking and the camaraderie that comes with owning a motorcycle.

“Somerset’s ride will be an excellent day – bringing together loads of riders from across the region for what’s sure to be a memorable occasion. If last year’s outfits are anything to go by, it will certainly be a spectacle for anyone who happens to pass, so keep your eyes out, although they’ll be hard to miss.”

Riders meet at the Hankridge Arms dressed in tweed, suits, bow ties and sporting eccentric facial hair.
