MORE than £1,000 was raised for the Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE) cancer charity over the past week.
Donations to the County Gazette-backed SURE, which equips the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital, included £111 from Cannington WI following a talk about the organisation.
Collection pots totalled £10.41 at Trull Post Office, £26.55 at the Esso petrol station, in Wellington Road, Taunton, £18.91 at Wembdon Stores and Post Office, and £31.03 from Trull Stores.
Collections amounted to £144.65 at Orchard shopping centre, Taunton, and £263.35 from Morrisons, Taunton.
There was also £330 from Chris Tottle, in lieu of presents for her 70th birthday, an anonymous donation of £4.25 in 5p coins, £10 from Mr and Mrs Kellaway, £15 from Mrs J. Manwell, of Minehead, in memory of Jane Pretty, and £91.54 from the Beacon Centre, including £6.85 in 5ps from Madge and £10.75 in 5ps from Mr D. Tancock and family.
This week's total of £1,056.69 means £543,338.69 has been raised since SURE linked up with the Gazette.
