A ratepayers group have responded to "scaremongering" accusations from pro-20mph road limit campaigners by distributing a second poster.
Residents living to the north of the A406 are being consulted by Waltham Forest council on the introduction of a 20mph zone.
Aimed at reducing fatalities and serious collisions, proposals include putting hundreds of road humps, speed cushions and signs in the Highams Park, Larkswood and north of the Valley ward area.
The plan is part of the council's vision to lower the speed limit on all of the borough's residential streets to 20mph, but it has caused contention among residents for and against the scheme.
Parents in the Highams Park area joined forces last month after they received a poster from the local Ratepayers Action Group (RAG) advising them to vote 'NO'.
They accused the RAG of "scaremongering" and distorting the facts so they set up their own 'Yes to Safer Streets' campaign.
In response, John Avis of the RAG has distributed a flyer to make clear how they feel about the plans.
He said: "There has been zero fatalities in the last five years and only an average of two serious accidents per year in the ward.
"These statistics cover part of the A406, Waterworks roundabout, and part of Forest Road and Woodford New Road.
"Road humps do not prevent someone speeding particularly if the driver is an idiot.
"We are in favour of targeted traffic calming measures but not the widespread use of humps."
The consultation ends on Monday (October 12).
