A CLOSE-knit community are hoping to convince planners to refuse planning permission for a third solar panel farm in their hamlet.

Blackstock Farms wants to build the panels on 16 acres of agricultural land at Pixford Fruit Farm, in Ash Priors.

But locals are asking Taunton Deane Council's planning committee to throw out the proposals, which include transformer cabins, sub-station buildings and CCTV, when they are considered next Wednesday, November 25.

Objector Vicky Shaw said: "While not being against solar panel, Ash Priors Action Group state that it will be a blot on the landscape as it lies on the top of a hill within full view from Wills Neck to Seven Sisters for walkers on the Quantocks.

"While not employing a single person, once operational it will affect the livelihood of two horse establishments and their employees opposite the site."

She added that there are already 14 solar panel farms within a five-mile radius, including two in Ash Priors.
