MORE than £2,000 was donated to Taunton-based cancer charity Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment last week.
Among cash handed over to the County Gazette-backed SURE, which equips the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Musgrove Park Hospital, was £221.63 from fundraising events at the Holywell Inn, Holywell Lake; £100 in lieu of Christmas cards from the congregation at St Francis of Assisi Church, Bridgwater; and £250 from North Curry Mummers.
There was £50 from the Laredo Line Dancers from their raffle; £29.40 from Stuart and Val Knowling; £104.10 from a bucket collection at Tesco, in Wellington Road, Taunton; and £535 from the Barleymow's Farm Shop and Restaurant, Chard, from a raffle.
Further money presented included £160 from the Serenade Choir, Ilminster; £20 from David and Helen Clegg; £30 from Bridgwater Blake Probus Club; £28.67 from the counter pot at Lizzies Café, Burnham-on-Sea; and £373.45 from a bucket collection at Lidl, Burnham.
Collection pots realised £8.71 at RBS, Taunton; £21.07 from Sainsbury's petrol station, Hankridge; and £35.16 from One Stop, Galmington.
Collections of 5p coins amounted to £24.20 from Andrew and Tina Potter, family and friends; £8 from Mr and Mrs Sherlock; and £119.90 from the Beacon Centre.
The week's total of £2,119.29 means £602,973.59 has been raised since SURE linked up with the Gazette.
