TAUNTON'S new £5.7 million swimming pool is up and running following its opening last Saturday.
Dozens of people took a dip in the 25-metre main pool, while beginners splashed around in the 13-metre learner pool.
The facility, attached to the Blackbrook Pavilion sports centre, replaces the outdated and expensive to maintain pool in St James Street, which closed last month.
As well as the pool, the new building also incorporates a viewing area, coffee corner, changing village and a spa experience offering a range of treatments and therapies, including a full thermal spa with hydro pool, sauna, steam room, monsoon shower, heat experience and ice fountain.
