RALLY drivers will be revving up for a new charity time trial event taking place at Porlock next month.

The event, organised by Minehead and Burnham motor clubs, will be a mixture of a rally and a hill climb, taking place over a one and a half mile section of the famous Porlock Toll Road.

The road has a variety of tests for all standards of drivers, with hairpins, and fast sections to compete along with the spectacular coastal views and steep drops to ensure the drivers will be concentrating on the road rather than the view.

The organisers say the Porlock section, run as part of the Somerset Stages rally for many years, has proved so popular with competitors and spectators alike in the past that a full entry of 60 cars is expected.

The event will raise money for the Handicapped Children's Pilgrimage Trust, the charity chosen by the Porlock Manor Estates Annual Charity Appeal.

The event will be held on July 8.
