THE Freedom of the Borough of Taunton Deane has been transferred from the Somerset Light Infantry to its successor regiment, The Rifles.
The Rifles will exercise their right to parade through Taunton with "bands playing and bugles sounding" at 2.30pm on Tuesday, July 24.
The parade will comprise the Band and Bugles of The Rifles, a Company of the 1st Battalion, The Rifles, the ACF Band, a contingent of the ACF and representatives of The Rifles Association.
The new Freedom Scroll will be presented to The Rifles on the steps of the Old Municipal Buildings, when Brig Jolyon Jackson will make a reciprocal presentation to Taunton Deane Mayor Ken Hayward.
