THE first ever Miss Somerset is closing in on a stab at the Miss World title.

Angele Flukes, 19, from Saltash, in Cornwall, won the right to represent Somerset in the Miss England contest at the county heat at Wookey Hole.

"I'm proud to represent Somerset this year - I'm a good old West Country girl after all," said Angele, who is off to the Miss England finals in Leicester from June 28-30.

"I may be from Saltash, but the Miss England rules state that you can enter any of the heats."

At the Miss England finals she will compete against 89 other women to go forward to the last 30 - but she could be fast tracked if she is in the top three in a text vote.

Which is where you come in - if you want Somerset to be represented in the grand final, vote for Angele by texting Miss Somerset TO 84205 before the end of the month - texts cost 60p plus standard network charges.

Who knows? Angele could be chosen to represent England at the Miss World finals in Sanya, China, on December 1.
