THE Royal British Legion with support from Taunton Deane Council held a Falklands 25 event at Vivary Park Taunton on Friday to mark the 25th anniversary of the Falklands War.
This was a significant event in the county town that provided such considerable input in terms of personnel, material and equipment to the campaign.
A Drumhead Service, which included a fly past by aircraft from RNAS Yeovilton HQ DAAvn at Middle Wallop followed by three speeches interspersed with musical pieces, was held.
Speakers included Maj-Gen Julian Thompson, Sara Jones and Lt-Gen Sir Hew Pike. All were intimately involved with the conflict.
The Red Devils Parachute Regiment Free Fall Team gave a display and the Wessex Military Band closed the event.
