POLICE have increased patrols after a nine-year-old boy was approached by a stranger on his way home from school.
The man, who was driving a dark-coloured 4X4 car, approached the boy in Norton Fitzwarren around 3.30pm yesterday (November 10).
Police believe this is an isolated incident, however they have warned Norton Fitzwarren Primary School to be vigilant.
Inspector James Carey said: “We had reports of a suspicious incident in Norton Fitzwarren at around 3.30pm yesterday (November 10) in which a man, driving a dark coloured 4 x 4 car, approached a nine-year-old boy who was walking home from school.
“We made the local school aware and we’re putting additional uniform patrols in the area to reassure people.
“Investigations are ongoing, we have a number of lines of enquiry, but we believe this is an isolated incident."
