A WIVELISCOMBE pharmacy raised more than £6,000 during a range of charity events.

The Day Lewis Pharmacy raised the money throughout the year and split the money between The Paddocks Nursery and Pre-School and Devon Air Ambulance, with both organisations receiving £3,425.74.

Sally Dugmore, a pharmacist at Day Lewis, said staff had taken part in a number of fundraisers including cycles, fetes and bingo nights.

She said: “We usually take it in turns with places with places in Wiveliscombe, but this year we chose the nursery because we knew they needed new equipment.

“We did events that involved us cycling in the store all day while customers came in and guessed how many miles we had done, as well as hosting bingo nights and holding raffles.”

Macyla Higgins, from The Paddocks Nursery and Pre-School, thanked the pharmacy for the donation.

She said: “Everyone here would like to thank all of the staff at Day Lewis Wiveliscombe, residents of Wiveliscombe and parents/carers of the children that attend Paddocks for helping to raise a total of £3,425.74.

“So far we have been able to purchase a number of Kindles to enable staff to have regular access to Tapestry.

“We have also been able to give the nursery and reception area a much needed makeover.”
