A POPULAR burger restaurant in Taunton has closed - despite insisting it was open.
A sign on the window of Burgerfest on Bridge Street said that the building had today (February 10) had been recovered by peacable re-entry.
It means that the landlord has a right to terminate a lease by taking physical possession of the premises.
The County Gazette was messaged earlier today to say that the restaurant was still open, however it has just confirmed on the Burgerfest Facebook page that it is closed.
The post reads:
"It is with deepest regret that Burgerfest ceased trading today, Friday February 10th, despite our best efforts and attempts to avoid this and for reasons beyond our control.
"We have thoroughly enjoyed providing Taunton with great food and great entertainment and we will certainly miss seeing the smiles on customers faces as they take their first bite.
"We have loved every minute and wish that things could be different. Thank you all for your support over our time here and we hope that you have had some great memories made in Burgerfest. We will miss you all."
Burgerfest opened in September 2015 and it is recently believed that it was taken over by new management.
It is not known yet how many jobs have been lost as a result of it closing.
