TWO adults were freed from a car that had skidded off the road this afternoon (Tuesday).

A fire officer spotted the incident on the A358 in the Combe Florey area at 1.47pm.

As well as the two adults, there were three children still in the vehicle.

The officer summoned two fire engines from Taunton and Williton, as well as the rescue tender from Taunton as a precaution.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "The incident involved one private car that had left the road.

"Initially two adults and three children were in the vehicle.

"The children were able to get out on their own but the two adults were released by fire service personnel.

"An ambulance was requested to check the occupants as one female stated she had stomach pains and a child had back pains.

"Care of the casualties was left with ambulance service personnel."
