THE date has been announced that a popular clothing shop will be opening its doors in Taunton

Branding for Jack Wills has been spotted around the town, lining a shop exterior and advertising panels in the Orchard Shopping Centre.

The store has been rumoured to be opening since last year when planning permission was sought for the building on Fore Street. But the planning permission was withdrawn, dampening any hope the shop would be coming to town.

But now, fresh applications have been submit and the store has announced that the 'scheduled' opening date will be September 6.

The brand was created in 1999 by Peter Williams in Salcombe, Devon.

The Taunton store is one of five to be opened so far this year.

Mr Williams said: "With stores in some of the farthest flung locations around the world, we are delighted to be returning to the UK to open our latest store in the South West, where it all began for us 18 years ago.

“Opening in one of the most beautiful buildings on the high street, our Taunton store perfectly exemplifies the Fabric of Jack – our dedication to British heritage and superior quality, and our ongoing mission to open up our fantastic supply chain.”

The public has the chance to comment on the new planning applications.

The consultation will run from tomorrow (Friday, July 27) until August 18.
