THOUSANDS of pounds of damage has been caused at a car boot sale site in Taunton - but organisers are not admitting defeat.

The damage allegedly occurred on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning (8/9) at the Prockters Farm site in Taunton.

Paul and Chris Goodyer, from Paul's Promotions, who organises the sales, said the site has been left a mess.

Paul Goodyer said: "It's a right mess, it looks like a vehicle has come into the site, broken fence posts, shunted them across the field.

"The toilets have been hit, the disabled one is a mess.

"They've left us with a hefty bill as the insurance wont cover it."

Portaloos had been at the site for the last 15 years, they now need replacing as one is in pieces and the other has been damaged.

Car boot sales are held there on Sundays, and it will take place this weekend, despite best efforts from the yobs to ruin it.

Mr Goodyer added: "They've caused a rampage up there.

"But the car boot sale won't be affected, except we might not have toilets.

"There's no reason to let vandals spoil it."

A spokesman for Avona nd Somerset Police said: "Police were called at 4.30pm on Wednesday August 9 to a report of criminal damage at the site of a car boot sale at Prockters Farm, Blundells Lane, Monkton Heathfield.

"The caller reported that a number of portable toilets and field posts had been damaged, and there were vehicle tyre marks in the area.

"The incident is believed to have happened between 10pm on Tuesday 8 and 2.45pm on Wednesday 9 August and the damage caused has been estimated at £2,000.
