These dramatic pictures were taken minutes after a cyclist was knocked off his bike by a fire engine in Taunton.
A man was taken to hospital with head and back injuries following the collision in Bridge Street last night.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene shortly after 10.15pm and the man’s injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
A spokesman for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: “There has been an incident involving a fire engine in Taunton which is currently being investigated by police.
“The fire service is not in a position to make any further comment at this time.”
Eyewitness Nikki Summers took photographs of the police cordon which he said was in place for around an hour.
The incident happened near Pizza Express.
A police spokesman said: “We were called at 10.17pm to Bridge Street, in Taunton, to reports of a road traffic collision involving a cyclist and a fire engine – an ambulance was on the scene.
“The road was closed and injuries do not appear to be life threatening.”
South West Ambulance Service confirmed a man was taken to Musgrove Hospital with back and leg injuries, but could not confirm is age.
