AS if walking 75 miles in five days wasn't a big enough challenge, radio presenter Claire Carter is undertaking the charity stunt in wellington boots.

The BBC Somerset presenter's Great Wellington Walk will take her to towns and villages across the county raising funds for BBC Children in Need.

Claire, who will set off from Wellington on Monday, November 13, said: "I don’t think I’ve ever been so nervous in the run up to a challenge for BBC Children in Need.

"I’m not sure how my body will cope with walking so far in wellington boots, but I will do everything I can to complete the challenge as it’s raising money for a great cause.

"I really hope the people of this wonderful county support me as much as they can as I pound the streets of Somerset."

She has been training with the Royal Navy to get in shape for the mammoth walk and will be joined by some celebrities along the route.

BBC Children in Need will be on BBC One on Friday, November 17.
