MIDDLEZOY Rovers went down 3-1 away to Westland Sports in the second round of the Somerset Senior Cup on Saturday.

Goals from S. Scott, H. Hayden and Josh Payne sent the hosts into the next round, with Callum Laird netting Middlezoy’s consolation as they suffered their first loss in six games.

Zoy are back in Somerset County League Premier Division action this coming Saturday, at home to Ilminster Town (ko 3pm).

Zoy are currently fourth in the table, Ilminster seventh.

Bridgwater Town Reserves 2, Glastonbury 1

BRIDGWATER Town Reserves enjoyed more success in the cup than Middlezoy, as they won 2-1 at home to Glastonbury on Friday night.

The visitors took the lead three minutes before half time, only for Ash Tandy to respond for Bridgwater two minutes later.

The winner came with 11 minutes of the match remaining, Lee Villis scoring to send his side into the third round, where they will travel to Nailsea & Tickenham - the only unbeaten team in the Somerset County League Premier Division.

On Saturday, 12th-placed Bridgwater are away to - as chance would have it - Nailsea & Tickenham, who are fifth, in a league clash (ko 3pm).

Wembdon Ladies 5, Merriott Ladies 0

WEMBDON Ladies bounced back from the previous Sunday’s 6-0 loss at Ash Rangers by thumping Merriott Ladies 5-0 at home.

Chloe Snook scored a brace, with Megan Hill, Phoebe Rayson and Kirsty Sheppard also finding the net for the rampant home side.

The win sees them sit fifth in the Division 1 standings, three points off third spot.

They are at home again this coming Sunday (October 15), as they entertain second-bottom Wellington Ladies at Victoria Park (ko 2pm).

Charlestown Ladies 6, Middlezoy Rovers Ladies 0

MIDDLEZOY Rovers Ladies endured a much more difficult Sunday, losing 6-0 at Charlestown.

Despite the heavy defeat, they are second in the Premier Division table, ahead of this coming Sunday’s home match with fourth-placed Forest Green Rovers Ladies, at the Aerodrome (ko 2pm).
