LOCAL retirees joined the Taunton Deane Mayor Cllr Hazel Prior-Sankey to celebrate the opening of McCarthy and Stone’s new retirement living development, Lock House in Taunton.

Somerset County Gazette:

The opening followed an open day in the summer.

The event was the first opportunity for local people to see the communal areas and landscaped gardens at Lock House.

Mrs Prior-Sankey cut a ribbon with homeowners and staff.

Guests were able to meet the on-site house manager while enjoying a glass of fizz and light refreshments, while the sales team was on hand to answer any questions.

Mrs Prior-Sankey said: "It was my pleasure to mark the official opening of Lock House and to see for myself what a fantastic development it is.

"Living independently and securely is extremely important and, with a growing number of people reaching retirement age, I’m pleased to see developments such as this are being built to provide local retirees with a number of options to make the most out of their later years.”

Simon Mantell, regional managing director for McCarthy and Stone South West, said: “We had some fantastic feedback from attendees on the stunning show complex which perfectly highlights the modern designs and luxurious surroundings that will be enjoyed when we welcome our first homeowners to this highly exclusive retirement living development in Taunton.”

Exclusively designed for over 60s, Lock House presents a collection of 45 one and two bedroom apartments, priced from £199,995 and £299,995 respectively.
