A MAN died suddenly in a Taunton street in the early hours of this morning (Tuesday).

A group of teenagers desperately tried to save the man's life before paramedics arrived on the scene during the incident at around 12.30am.

They then fought unsuccessfully to bring him around.

Natasha Edworthy-Carter praised the efforts of her daughter, Naomi Hurricks, 19, and her friends who performed CPR on the man after finding him slumped outside the Kwik Fit store on Priory Bridge Road.

She said: "The friends were walking past and saw two men laughing and joking before one of them disappeared.

"They had an inkling something was wrong so went back and saw the man in a bad way, so they started doing CPR and rang 999.

"The paramedics were there for about an hour but couldn't revive him."

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "Police were called by the ambulance service to a report of a man found unresponsive on Priory Bridge Road, Taunton, just before 12.40am on Tuesday, April 3.

"The man sadly died at the scene. The death is not being treated as suspicious and is being referred to the coroner."

A South Western Ambulance Service spokesman confirmed it attended the incident on Priory Bridge Road following a call at 12.32am.
