SCORES of fundraisers are taking to their bikes or walking in one of the major events in the Taunton calendar.
The 50/50 Cycle Ride and Walk, organised by the Rotary Club of Taunton, starts and finishes at Richard Huish College on Sunday (May 6), between 10am and 4pm.
Participants can get in the saddle to peddle 10, 15 or 21 miles and takes in the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal.
The walk element is a four-mile loop from the college to Cotlake Hill.
For more serious cyclists, there's a 46-mile Quantock Challenge in aid of Bloodwise, in memory of Luke Buckingham, which includes Cothelstone Hill and Crowcombe Hill.
There will be a number of fun activities for all the family on the college campus, including a Big Top Mania Cycle Circus and Wacky Bikes, entertainment for all ages, Go Ride cycle challenges to test the skills of under 16s.
And mountain bike stunt show rider Andrei Burton will be doing do three 20-minute appearances between noon and 2pm.
More than £195,000 has been raised for local charities since the long-standing Rotary fundraising event started.
Last year saw £4,500 go to the Children’s Hospice South West as well as monies raised for rider’s local charities.
