A MAN was treated for smoke inhalation in the early hours of this morning after a fire broke out.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue crews were called to Albemarle Road at around 3.55am this morning (April 27).

The fire is believed to have started in a consumer unit.

A fire service spokesman said: "Two fire appliances from Taunton were mobilised to a fire in a flat where all persons were accounted for.

"Crews arrived on scene and put the fire out using one hose reel jet, with four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus.

"The fire had started in the consumer unit, so crews used a co2 extinguisher on that area of the fire.

"An ambulance was requested for a male who was suffering from smoke inhalation.

"Crews put the fire out, and checked the property using a thermal imaging camera. The smoke was cleared using a positive pressure fan. Western Power also attended to isolate the electric to the property."
