A GROUP of travellers have moved from council-owned land - leaving behind a bit of a mess.
Taunton Deane Borough Council has confirmed today (June 18) the travellers have left the site off Wellsprings Road.
It is believed the group moved onto the land on June 6.
The council then started its process to move them along.
A spokesman for Taunton Deane Borough Council said council officers visited the travellers to assess the situation.
"When dealing with unauthorised encampments on Taunton Deane Borough Council-owned land, the council has an agreed procedure to follow," the spokesman said.
"It also has obligations in respect of health and housing which it must assess and asks to be notified of any special circumstances by way of forms left with the occupants.
"Council officers visited the group of travellers camped on land adjoining Wellsprings Road in Taunton to assess the situation and to leave the welfare forms with the group."
The group were then asked to leave the site, and if they didn't comply, legal action would be used.
Photos sent in anonymously show the mess left behind by the group.
The council says the clean up will be done and costs will be met through the street cleaning budget.
More photos of the area between Quantock Road and Crowcombe Road show more mess left behind.
