THE phototherapy unit at Musgrove Park Hospital, in Taunton, has been relaunched...in the pink!

With a new pink office, pink scrubs for all the staff and a newly appointed lead Consultant, the team are looking to launch their service to patients in Somerset.

Phototherapy offers UVA and UVB light treatment to aid skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema.

The team will also be providing patch testing for patients to help with allergic reactions.

A spokesman said: "We are very excited about the relaunch of the Phototherapy and patch testing unit in Musgrove.

"The new team have worked very hard to develop an easily accessible and friendly service.

"New equipment and dedicated Dermatology team input have also ensured that dermatology patients in Somerset receive safe, reliable and up to date investigations and treatments."

Christopher Bett, of Taunton, a patient at the unit, said: "I developed psoriasis eight years ago and have tried numerous creams with no success.

"Since starting the light treatment at Musgrove my skin is showing real signs of improvement and I'm only half way through my treatment.

"The girls in the unit are always welcoming and cheerful, and make me feel relaxed and at ease"

Jane Coleman, of Wellington, said "Psoriasis is a very visible condition.

"Having the phototherapy unit helps greatly with the symptoms, the staff help greatly by accepting that you are a person and not just a condition and not defined by the way you look.

"Their treatment helps the person and that helps the condition.

"I for one am thrilled that the clinic has been relaunched. Long may it continue."
