A COUPLE from Stoke St Gregory trekked 19,336 to the summit of Kilimanjaro for charity last month.
Mike and Kathy Davidson successfully walked Africa's highest mountain, to raise funds for Bridge2Aid - a charity involved in delivering dental care in North West Tanzania.
Kathy, 53, works as a dental practitioner at Parkfield in Taunton and Mike, 55, is an Orofacial surgeon in Taunton and Yeovil.
They said: "This was the hardest thing we've ever done, mentally and physically. The biggest challenge on Kilimanjaro was undoubtedly the altitude and low oxygen and the cold on the final ascent.
"We reached the summit on our Wedding Anniversary - not one we'll forget in a hurry!
"It was a real challenge, but there is a certain satisfaction, having pushed yourself to the limit, in finding that your old reserves of energy and determination are still there."
