MARK Formosa, who hopes to stand for the Conservatives in Taunton at the next General Election MP for Taunton Deane, has met party leader David Cameron.
Mr Formosa said his leader had effectively become "a Prime Minister in waiting" after an opinion poll put the Tories' popularity on 43%.
Following the meeting, Mr Cameron said: "People want a change for the better in Taunton. Mark will be a strong voice for Taunton."
Mr Formosa said he is recognised as one of the "hardest working candidates in the country" with daily campaigning and weekly surgeries.
He added that he works closely with the Conservative Shadow Cabinet and has recently welcomed a number of leading Conservatives to the constituency in recent months.
