WEST Hatch RSPCA Centre is looking for families and individuals to offer loving homes for a number of black and white cats brought in last year.

The cats were taken to the centre as their owner had too many and their welfare was compromised.

Some of the cats are more shy than others, but they all need in relatively quiet homes, and new owners would need to put in a bit of work to help them gain confidence.

If you would like to take on one of the cats phone the West Hatch Domestic Centre on 03001-230747 during opening hours - Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4pm, and Sunday, 11am to 1pm.

The centre also has a number of degus, which are South American animals that look like large gerbils.

The degu (pictured right) is generally a wary creature. It is possible to tame or at least gain its trust, which is handy in case they need to go to the vet.

The degu needs a large, tall cage with plenty of levels. These animals love to run about and preferably should be in groups of two or more as they are very sociable.

They also like having plenty of cardboard to chew and enjoy a sand bath to keep clean.

Call the centre for further information.
