BRIDGWATER & Taunton College (BTC)'s childcare centre has maintained its ‘outstanding’ rating after a recent Ofsted inspection.

The inspection was carried out at the college's Bridgwater campus on December 12, 2022. Ofsted described the childcare centre as a wonderful place where children thrive.

The report went on to say that staff develop strong bonds with children as they have an in-depth knowledge about their individual needs and support their developmental stages.

The report states that the children are exceptionally independent and learn to regulate their emotions and express themselves in a positive way.

The report also highlighted partnerships with parents and professionals to ensure that the children have the best start.

Somerset County Gazette:

Principal Andy Berry said: “I am absolutely delighted. Ofsted ‘outstanding’ is no easy task, it demonstrates the hard work and dedication of the staff all year round, not just on the inspection day.

“The transition back to work, following maternity and paternity leave, is a big milestone, it’s really important for parents to know that their children are being well cared for and flourishing.

“This report has highlighted that the childcare centre is an exceptional setting and Caren and her team should be extremely proud.”

Centre manager Caren Eagen said: “I am so proud we maintained our ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating. For the centre to be described as wonderful is the icing on the cake!

“This rating is the result of a huge amount of hard work from my amazing staff team, our lovely children, and the partnerships with families.

“Everyone at the nursery is exceptional and we are thrilled our hard work has been recognised.’’

Somerset County Gazette:

Parent Kelly Thorne said: “Both my children have attended the nursery. I have been extremely happy with the provision they’ve received.

“When you’re working, it’s really important to know that your children are not only in a safe and caring environment but, that they are thriving too.

“It gives me peace of mind when I’m at work. This result is richly deserved.”
