AREAS of Somerset experienced high tides and strong winds this week, following a weather warning issued by the Met Office.

The yellow warning forecasted strong coastal waves and winds across the south west from 4pm on Monday, April 8 until 6am on Tuesday, April 9, although many areas experienced adverse weather later into the day.

Watchet, Minehead, and Exmoor were among the areas encompassed by the warning, but extreme weather was experienced in many other areas also, including Bridgwater and Brean, and areas of North Somerset including Weston-super-Mare and Clevedon.

The Met Office said there was a small chance that injuries or danger to life could result from large waves in coastal areas, and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties, or from flying debris elsewhere.
