PLANS to build three new houses on an area of disused land in Somerset have been submitted to the council.

M Mason and Z Genevrier have applied to build three new homes on land off Coombe Lane, in Shepton Mallet.

All three proposed houses would feature three bedrooms, en-suite bathroom, as well as a 'family bathroom' on the first floor.

'Plot 1' is comprised of a detached house, with an open sided pitched roof canopy porch to 'reinforce the cottage style'.

It would be approached from the southern shared access point serving two parking spaces and the turning space planned to be directly in front of the house, and to the side of 'plot 2'.

The applicant added: "There are no side windows to avoid overlooking the existing houses fronting Coombe Lane."

The proposed houses will be 'constructed from a traditional rough cast render with dressed stone quoins and other detailing below a double roman clay tiled roof (brindled colouring), reflecting the wider mixed construction palate.'

Each dwelling would also include the space to accommodate a 'secure cycle store'.
