AN award-winning fried chicken restaurant in Taunton is set to feature in a popular TV series next week.

Eat the Bird, found at Pegasus Court, Coal Orchard, will appear in the new series of Come Dine With Me: The Professionals in the episode set to be shown on Wednesday, May 15 at 5pm on Channel 4.

In the episode, the restaurant's founder Dan Aldridge and chef Luke McGarvey will go head-to-head against two teams of fellow hospitality businesses in a bid to win the coveted first prize and £1,000 in cash.

The chicken slinging gents will be serving a classic spread of their multi award winning Korean Barbecue wings for starter and then followed by the customer favourite gravy soaked Double Dip burger and an exclusive dessert for the show.

Speaking of the pair's time filming for the series, Dan said: “We had great fun filming this. Filled with the usual hijinks that you’d expect from the show.

“It’s really great see restaurants from our area of the country get some recognition on national television.

"I can’t wait to watch it when it comes out”.

The restaurant first opened in Taunton seven years ago in 2017 and was met with such popularity that it has since franchised out with permanent fixtures in Exeter and Cardiff, plus a pub residency in Bristol.

It's not the first time the Taunton restaurant has featured on our screens as in 2022, it made an appearance in BBC Two's 'Britain’s Top Takeaways'.

Both Dan and Luke made the trip to the north west to represent Eat the Bird.

After filming the episode, Dan told the County Gazette: “It was really good fun.

“It was such a great experience, and it was absolutely amazing to get into that world and understand it.

“Networking with all the other restaurants was really cool, and it was a good vibe.”

He added: “It felt nice to be representing the region and to feel that eyes are on this area.

“The fact that we were in consideration felt amazing for us, and we felt a sense of pride and privilege to be able to do that for the south west.”
