DELLERS Wharf nightclub in Taunton will be reopened after being taken over by a new owner.

The beleaguered nightclub closed in August after a drop in custom.

But new owner Johnny Davis hopes to bring new life into the club and Taunton’s night time economy.

He said: “I lived in Somerset and went to Somerset College so I keep in touch with a lot of friends in Taunton.

“I got a phone call saying Dellers was shutting and I thought I couldn’t let it happen.

“I managed to track down the owners and it all went from there.”

Johnny has over 21 years experience in the business including setting up three Oceana chain clubs and running a nightclub on the south coast for 13 years.

He hopes to re-brand the club in the New Year with a host of changes including transforming the site into a twin venue with an illuminated dance floor.

“The two bars will stay as bars and the two floors will be branded as two different nightclubs,” He added.

“Next would be making a café bar underneath.”

And Johnny is hoping to work with other agencies in the town to promote Taunton’s night time economy.

He said: “It’s all about working together to draw people back into Taunton.

“The local council is working to promote the bars, clubs and restaurants.

“And we’ve had support form the police and licensing authority.”
