A PENSIONER has filed a complaint after claiming her modesty was compromised during a trip to Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital for an X-ray.
Jennifer Barnes, 63, of Roman Road, Taunton, said she inadvertently ‘flashed’ at a team of electricians because the X-ray gown she was given was too small.
“I was shown into a cubicle and told to undress and put a gown on,” said Mrs Barnes, a size 28, who weighs 18½ stone.
“The gown was a size 12 to 14 for someone half my size, but I was told it was that or nothing.
“I was then made to walk along a corridor with my bare back and knickers showing.
“I had to walk past a porters’ office where there were some male electricians working.
“I found it humiliating and feel Musgrove should be doing more for patients.”
A spokeswoman for Taunton and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust confirmed it had received a complaint from Mrs Barnes and that it was currently being investigated.
She added: “We take the dignity of patients very seriously and work hard to ensure that patients are treated with dignity and respect.”
On a happy note, Mrs Barnes, who had been experiencing breathing difficulties since before Christmas, said she was given an all-clear chest X-ray.
