A CHARITY raising funds to equip the Beacon Centre cancer unit at Taunton’s Musgrove Park Hospital is receiving a triple musical boost.

The Taunton School Musical Kaleidoscope concert, in conjunction with the Rotary Club of the Quantocks, raised £1,700 for the County Gazette-backed Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment (SURE).

And Wales and West Utilities presented a further £300 as part of the company’s matched giving scheme.

A similar event, in support of SURE and Somerset Life Education, is taking place at Temple Methodist Church, Taunton, on Saturday, May 22, when Taunton School musical talents will be showcased.

And Taunton Deane and Barnstaple Male Voice Choirs are singing at Temple Methodist this Saturday in aid of SURE, the Children’s Hospice South West and SSAFA Forces Help – the three charities supported by Taunton Deane Mayor Cllr Bob Bowrah.

The programme for the evening, which starts at 7.15pm, includes modern and classical pieces.

Tickets at £7 are available from the box office at the Tacchi-Morris Centre, at Heathfield Community School, on 01823-414141, from Taunton Tourist Information Centre, in Paul Street, tel 01823-340306, and on the door on the night.
