A man was today continuing his bridge-top fathers' rights demonstration, police said.

Jolly Stanesby, a member of the pressure group Fathers 4 Justice, climbed on to the gantry over the Tamar Bridge near Plymouth yesterday morning.

Mr Stanesby, a registered childminder from Ivybridge, Devon, was joined by other protesters who blocked the road bridge causing rush-hour traffic tailbacks on the Devon and Cornwall sides of the bridge.

A Devon and Cornwall police spokeswoman today said officers remained at the Tamar Bridge.

Police yesterday arrested two men and a woman in connection with the protest.

Mother-of-one Jayne Woodman, 36, a human resources manager from Swansea, south Wales, was later released without charge.

A 38-year-old man and a 46-year-old man, both from London, were released on police bail to return at a later date.

Fathers 4 Justice campaigns for equal parenting rights and a legal presumption of contact for parents and grandparents following separation or divorce.
