PERRANWELL 2

MOUSEHOLE 2

WITH most of their rivals out of action, Perranwell missed a great chance of closing the gap on the leaders in the Jolly's Combination League after being held to a 2-2 draw by Mousehole.

In fact, it wasn't until the dying minutes that Perran managed to grab a late equaliser against a hard-working and determined side.

Mark Rapsey, soon to go to Austrailia on holiday, opened the scoring for Perranwell in the 12th minute when he gave the 'keeper no chance with a header from a cross by Rodney Gregory.

Perran enjoyed the lion's share of possession as the visitors packed the midfield and defence, but Mousehole were fortunate to survive when Rapsey rattled the crossbar with another good effort.

The visitors continued to find themselves under pressure early in the second half, but they showed great resilience and shook Perran when Mark Rendle snapped up an equaliser.

The goal was the lift Mousehole needed and they began to establish a real foothold in the game which culminated with a second goal 20 minutes from time when Carl Monk put the ball into his own goal when attempting to clear.

Shaun Dabb had a clear cut opportunity to get Perran back on level terms, but thumped his shot high over the bar.

Just when it looked like Perran might run out of time, Gregory finally found a gap to score from close range and earn the home side a point.
