The Restronguet Creek Society and the Restronguet Creek Users Association, two organisations with overlapping interests, have merged and in future will be known as Restronguet Creek Society.

The creek society, having notched up a quarter of a century, and going from strength to strength, was formed with the objective of safeguarding the beauty and public amenity of the creek and its environs by making such representations as appropriate to organisations and individuals to ensure that the area is not endangered by silting, pollution or undesirable shoreside developments.

The preservation of the essential character of the creek for present and future generations is paramount and to this end collaboration with like minded persons and associations is encouraged.

A useful and well-used service which is free to its members with marine interests is Boat Check which keeps records of all members' boats moored in and around the creek and advises owners when craft break loose or need urgent attention.

The creek users' association was formed in 1998 to oppose the Truro Harbour Authority's application for a harbour revision order, which if successful would have extended the authority's jurisdiction to the high water mark throughout Restronguet and Penpol Creeks.

Boat owners who moored their craft in the creek, many on parts of the creek bed for which they personally held freehold titles, formed the users' association and successfully opposed this order.

With the association's main purpose achieved and many members already belonging to the Restronguet Creek Society, a merger became the obvious choice.
