DECEMBER was once again a very successful month for Falmouth-based Pendennis Brass. At the beginning of the month they combined with the City of Truro Male Voice Choir to entertain a packed Princess Pavilion for the annual RNLI concert. During the interval the band changed into their new uniforms and received a standing ovation when they appeared for the second half of the evening.

The band also released their first ever CD and are more than pleased with the initial sales - two tracks have already been heard on BBC Radio Cornwall's Sunday evening programme "Sounds of Brass."

Once again the band played carols for the switching on of the Christmas lights at Penryn and Mylor and every week Pendennis Brass were much appreciated at party nights at the Green Lawns Hotel culminating in the annual 200 club party. The Christmas period for the band ended on Christmas morning when a group of players visited the Penmorvah Manor Hotel to play for the guests. The band also benefited from a Christmas Fair held in Mawnan Memorial Hall organised by Beatrice Paget which raised more than £300 and the total raised for band funds during December was £1,766.

There was one night in December when the band let their hair down and held their own Christmas party at the Green Lawns.

The event was organised by 16-year-old euphonium player Kelly Saunders and after a superb meal, the annual awards were presented.
