Bridgwater police are reminding people buying a stolen car stereo could land you in trouble with the law.

Officers in the town are keen to get this message across after a break-in at a garage on St John Street.

Some time overnight on January 15 to 16 thieves broke into the garage and targeted a car which was being worked on at the premises.

A JVC stereo, Pioneer speakers and Bosch 900 watt amplifier were stolen in the raid, valued at almost £800.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the theft to come forward, but also for residents to be aware of the dangers of buying stolen goods.

Bridgwater Town Centre Team officer PC Andy Bluffield said: "Buying stolen goods is an offence and if people are offered a deal which is too good to be legal - it probably is not."
