PRIORSWOOD Primary School, Taunton, has become the first in Somerset to be awarded the Dyslexia Friendly Schools Award.
To gain the award, the school had to meet tough standards, which have been devised by the British Dyslexic Association.
Inspectors came to the school and observed lessons, held interviews with staff, governors, and parents, and examined a range of documentation provided by the special educational needs co-ordinator Tina Morgan.
Maggie Holme, leader of county's specific learning difficulties team, said: "It was obvious to all that Priorswood deals expertly with dyslexic children and they make good progress through the school.
"I congratulate everyone for their efforts."
