A NEW centre for integrated and complementary medicine has been opened by Karen Atkinson in Canon Street, Taunton.
Unusually, Karen’s work combines traditional medical knowledge with evidence-based complementary therapies.
The York House team supports people in a gentle, integrated way using both physical and psychological techniques.
Working with Karen are Dr Vanessa Snowdon-Carr, a chartered clinical psychologist; Andrea Newman, a certified Rolfer; Julia Baldock, an experienced massage therapist and yoga teacher; and Vicky Krawec, a specialist dietician.
They specialise in seeing patients with physical and psychological illnesses and conditions including: anxiety and depression, arthritis, back and neck pain, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS/ME), chronic pain, eating disorders – anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, fibromyalgia, insomnia, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), obesity, post traumatic stress disorder, stress-related illnesses and women’s problems.
In addition to their therapy rooms they have a large room where they run yoga and meditation classes and workshops throughout the year.
