WEST of England League Premier One champions Taunton St Andrews suffered their first defeat of the season as they went down by 36 runs away to Frocester.

After winning the toss, the hosts were bowled out for 186, almost three overs short of their full allocation of 55, with just two players and extras getting into double figures.

Opener Lewis Gregg made 45 and Ashley Davies a fine 79 as the duo put on 61 for the fourth wicket.

However, wickets fell at regular intervals throughout the innings with Kevin Sedgbeer taking 3-43, Lloyd Alley, Tom Pitkin and skipper Keith Parsons all picking up two wickets apiece.

Extras contributed 22 to the hosts’ total which were to prove crucial.

Saints’ top three all fell cheaply and, although almost all of the remaining batsmen got starts, no-one could go on to make a telling contributions and they were eventually all out for 150 in 50 overs. Alley top scored with 21 and Rob Driver made 18.
