A TEAM from Taunton won first place in the St John Ambulance regional competitions held in Buckfastleigh.
Eight-year-old Libby and Ella Chambers, and reserve Leah Shipway (9), entered the First Aid and Creative Badger competitions, winning First Aid and taking first place overall.
The girls, who represented Somerset against teams from Gloucester, Avon, Devon and Cornwall, are all members of Taunton Priory Badgers.
They are now looking forward to the national finals in June.
Sue Winter, Assistant Commissioner Youth for Somerset, said: “I’m very proud of the team, they did Somerset proud.
“It is so important that everybody learns First Aid skills that can literally be the difference between life and death.
“Recent research conducted by ICM concluded that 150,000 deaths a year could be prevented by swift First Aid action at the scene.
“All our young members are competent in First Aid which prepares them to play such an important role in their local communities.”
