A WOMAN who has spent most of her life in Taunton celebrated her 100th birthday with a surprise guest – her 95-year-old sister.
Widow Alison Mollan held a party for the landmark occasion in the nursing home where she lives in Buxton, Derbyshire, where she has lived since moving from Taunton.
Mrs Mollan, who lived in Mount Street for 55 years, was heavily involved in St Mary Magdalene Church, where she was nicknamed ‘Half a Cake’.
She moved to Derbyshire to be nearer her only daughter.
She also has two sons, one of whom travelled from Australia with his son for her birthday.
She cut her cake with a sword supplied by the Royal Army Medical Corps, of which she was once a member.
Mrs Mollan said: “It doesn’t matter about your age – it’s what you feel inside that counts.”
