A GOOD Samaritan is who stopped to help an injured woman following a car accident in the Quantock Hills is still waiting to find out if she is OK.

Mark Sells spotted the couple near Hawkridge as he was driving home from work in Taunton three weeks ago.

Mr Sells said: “The lady was clearly injured, with blood pouring out of her arm. It was possibly broken and she was in some shock.

“The guy in the car with her was OK but was concerned and frantic as he wanted an ambulance.

“I took my cricket shirt out of my car, told them to use it put pressure on the wound and sit in my car and keep warm while I went to get a signal for my mobile to call for help.”

Mr Sells hitched a lift in another car, found a signal, and called for an ambulance.

But when he returned to the scene ten minutes later the couple had disappeared and nobody knew where they were.

Mr Sells added: “It was all very frustrating. I was doing my best to help but not only have I lost my cricket shirt I have no idea how the lady is.

“To make matters worse when I rang to cancel the ambulance I was told it was a wasted call even though I’d been asked to keep the emergency services informed.”

A spokesman for the South Western Ambulance Service said: “I can understand Mr Sells’ frustration, as he did exactly the right thing, but I am happy he was dealt with in the right manner.”
