JUNIOR lawyers from Devon and Somerset got a lesson in how to make a positive impact at a networking workshop in Taunton.

The Devon and Somerset Junior Lawyers Division event was held at Ashfords Solicitors offices at Ashford Court, Taunton, on Tuesday.

Judy Salmon, executive coach and personal development consultant, ran the session.

She gave the lawyers top tips on business networking and on how to be more confident about attending functions so that they could leave any event feeling successful.

She said: “Most people dread going to networking events because they either can’t see the point of them or don’t feel confident about going.

“In my experience, if you have a strategy, know what you want to achieve, know how to go about it, see an event as an opportunity and take a few deep breaths before going in, networking can be terribly powerful.

“I have gained most of my business by effective networking.”

Around 25 young professionals enjoyed the workshop followed by a networking event where they had the chance to try out their new skills.
